Geez thats stuff is expensive ...£16 a tub of it ive just ordered a small tube of it to try for now All i need to get now is some soap , any soap will do Bloody hell that's gone up sparky but on the plus side it should last ages, When you use the G3 have a bucket of warm water with you put the past on the dry cloth and start to rub a small area at a time after a Minuit or so wet the cloth and use the past with water, adding past and water and use plenty of water you will see the shine coming through, then wipe the area off with a dry cloth and polish if it looks OK start a new are, if not do a little more with past and water TIP don't let the past dry out and don't rub to hard or you will burn the paint/lacquer, and don't try to do to much at once. small areas at a time, and don't rub in a circular motion use straight lines Yeah any soap will do Hears a photo of jnrs gpz done using this system full respray

:hmm: Gotta get me some of that G3 if that's the kind of shine I can get with it. Tried it before but didn't use the kevrex method above so probably didn't get anything like those results. I think Rex could benefit from a dose of that too.

Geez thats stuff is expensive ...£16 a tub of it ive just ordered a small tube of it to try for now More questions for kevrex. I've just looked on ebay to get a rough idea of the price of G3 The price for a 1kg tub of the stuff isn't too bad at 11.75 or 11.99 a go but the postage is nearly (or more than) half as much again. Would there be another source I could try locally I've also looked at the "Fairy Clay" website for info. Their instructions for use of the paste are spot on so they must've copied you Kev. Seems like the liquid variety is best applied by machine so more expense for the mops and more risk of accidental damage in the process. The liquid works out a little cheaper but which is best Kev? I don't mind buying a decent quantity of the stuff as I've also got a pink fiesta with weathered paintwork to rub back to it original red. For that weathered, dull paintwork would I be better using something else.

To be honest grem i've never used the past, and have never used the fairy clayso i cant comment, and i will not use mops as its to easy to burn through the lacquer, i know its a pain using the manual method but the results are worth it.
All i can say is if you take your time and do a little at a time it dosent take long to finish the job, its when you try to do to big an area cos you have to keep going over the same bit to get it right.
sorry i cant be of any more help
Sparky no the lacquer wasnt cloudy it was very dull and nearly like a mat finish but i have done cars that have had to be in the garage in the cold and did go cloudy and i used the same method and it turned out just like the GPZ nice and shiney.
Just take your time and you should be ok

Will do Kevrex ...when i picked the z650 up the bloke was telling me he used the g3 stuff as well and its given him fantastic results i explained Kevrex's method of 1200 and soap and he totally agreed thats the way to do it although he did it on cars and used a polishing mop to do a large area interesting that it will burn the lacuer though aint it guess its the heat developed while mopping in one spot too much So i plan to start sat afternoon Kev

Well ive re sprayed the tail end of the cbx and got rid of the nasty scratch i put on it ...using the G3 was real hard work by hand but i got sort of minimal results so after 4 attempts i got the T cut out and this made a better finnish with the final top coat of pollish Not 100% happy with it but with a bit more elbow grease im sure it will look shiney as can be .

Oh yes it is hard wotk with the G3 but it dose pay off but you have to use plenty of elbow grease, t cut works just as good but you dont get the shine like you go with G3, the trick is use plenty of water
