Just found this at Busters. All very pretty and all that, probably as secure as any other idea and advertised as waterproof, which compared to the ones I have is a definate advantage. Each year at tax change time I either have to handle a sodden mass of parer mache or chisel off the remains of last years tax, dependan upon the prevailing weather conditions. The only disadvantage I can see is that these won't display the entire tax disk and what's to stop the dated portion from rotating away from the viewing window with a little vibration? If plod want to make a serious examination as to your tax discs validity, they also need to see the serial number. On the other hand, me being my usual bloody awkward self, have positioned my tax disc, upside down, behind the left hand heelplate and fixed with the front chainguard mounting bolt. Anybody wishing to view my tax disc has to get on their hands and knees with their head upside down to read it properly. With any luck it'll be parked in a puddle at the same time and I'll get the chance to see them struggle (from a safe distance, with camera in hand of course. ). If I succeed you'll be the first too know. :hmm: Maybe Busters new toy isn't such a bad idea after all.

My mate's got one of these. You revolve it to display the whole disc. Just turn the end & you get to see the whole tax disc. As far as legallity goes,i'd say no problem. All the law says is that the disc must be displayed on the nearside of the bike and must be clearly visible. This IS clearly visible - what else can you say about it...apart from it seems to be "a soloution looking for a problem"! The question i ask is "why". Its harder to fit it somewhere neatly on the bike. It looks,er,odd. The disc gets just as damp through moisture & condensation as a conventional one and finally tha PRICE!!! £25 - £30 + postage for a f**king tax disc holder... Jeez,id rather spend the money on 6 months tax...! Each to his own i suppose...

:agreed:
It's bad enough having to shell out for tax in the first place without having to shell out the same again for something to put it in. It's like being taxed twice. The only reason that my own tax disc holder cost me as much as a tenner is because I didn't want some cheap tacky plastic item spiling the looks of my lovely bike.
aving been the victim of tax theft and suffered the subsequent aggravation and expense I'm almost tempted to keep my tax disc safely under the seat and take my chances. After all, THEY know whether a vehicle is taxed or not anyway as it's now stored on computer records at the DVLA.

Thats very true...but sadly,in law, theres two regulations you can get done for. One is not having any tax.The other, not DISPLAYING your tax disc....even if the vehicle is taxed... They'll get you either way...
