I'm beginning to get a bit restless with the 400 sitting outside....dormant. Any hows, just found a set of Kawasaki ZXR (NOT ZRX) restrictors on ebay and was wondering if any of the wiser heads :teacher: on here knew if by any chance they would work for the baby rex. Its the type that goes in the carbs by the mainfold..exactly what i have at the mo on my GS500. Not sure if the two bikes have the same carbs or not, if so I imagine it probably might be worth a gamble???

Dormant means " currently inactive or, not showing signs of unrest, but has the capability to become active in the future" It's most commonly referred to about volcanoes.

i'm going over to kawi Canada this afternoon if you give me the year & model for the restrictors & the year of your zrx 400 i'll ask if they use the same intake manifolds that's where they go, right? but as the 400 is unavailable here

Here's a pic of the restrictors. Auction ends in precisely 24 hours On ebay, the seller mentions that it fits all Kawasaki ZXR 400 L models. Unsure exactly what these are as of yet? My Kawasaki ZRX4001 is a 1997. I am pretty sure they go next to the intake manifolds, they certainly do on my suzuki gs500. Good luck on your/my quest.........I hope they don't look at you like you are a clown or something!!?? Thanks fella

Here's quite a bad pic of my gs500 when we adjusted the valve shims. You can see on the pic where the carburettors link up to the manifolds. The right hand side is complete in this picture and all you do is place the washer inside on the black plastic casing. It just sits on there, reducing the amount of fuel flowing through the carburettors into the engine, hence the restriction. I imagine that this is exactly the same procedure for the baby rex, all I need to know is that if the ZXR restrictors work for the ZRX. Please excuse the poor state of the chassis and overall state of the bike in comparison to most of your rex's I had only recently purchased the bike, it was mid winter and this was the first time I had the tank off. 1st chance for a proper clean.

Don't forget you'll need a certificate to comply with the law so you'll need to get a dealer to do the work. That's the way I understand it anyway

Up until the Exeter Bike show a couple of weeks ago that was my interpretation of the law too. Saw Jam (zrxoc) there with his dyno, ( dads majestic couldn't resist) and of course he knows absolutely everything there is to do with the 400 rex. Because he runs an official dyno he knows a little bit about the do and dont's of the law. He was 100% certain that all I would need to show for the restriction if the Police ever stopped me or I had a crash was 1) evidence that the restrictors were in place at the time of the crash or incident 2) evidence that the maximum power output of the bike at the time of the incident was 33bhp/25kw. Therefore in order to put forward the evidence of these two markers, a dyno certificate issued from Jam, showing max power output, would meet the requirements. And of course to ensure that the kit is indeed in place,as a lot of people take them out once they have the certificate, only to find that when the bike is examined by the law, they are missing and then they pile the blame onto the garage...... Saves spending £200 for a certificate, i would much rather have a ride down to Honiton, put it on the dyno until it makes 33bhp and bung him £50 or something. I think......................

Fair point, and that makes perfect sense to me.
Maybe an idea to give your insurers a bell & ask their view.

as your machine is not released here they've got no specs are there no dimensions on e bay size of the hole outside diameter centre of bolt holes that you could cross reference i'm amazed you don't have sites over there so you can look up the part # then enter it & it'll show you every bike it fits sorry bud
