IS DANI PEDROSA THE NEW VALENTINO ROSSI?
There is talk of the ‘New’ Valentino Rossi in every MOTOGP conversation the world over More than that, many people who have studied this incredibly gifted young man (he was born in September 1985), honestly believe Pedrosa to be better than Rossi in relative terms That’s a bold statement considering Rossi’s meteoric rise to fame and his superlative GP record :hmm:
Pedrosa took three seasons to capture the 125cc GP world champions crown, in 2003 where he scored a massive 223 points, completely dominating the field Five firsts and eleven top 6 places were backed up by 3 pole positions.
A week after becoming world champ, he broke both his ankles in practice at Australia’s Phillip Island circuit which blew his season out of the water Making a bold move to the 250cc GP class in 2004, with no pre season testing, Pedrosa won the season’s opening race and, the 250cc world crown!! A year later he consolidated his position, regaining the 250cc world title and entered the MOTOGP arena for the 2006 season
Pedrosa defied concerns from many racers, team managers and voices from those within the sport, including TV presenters Charlie Cox , Suzie Perry and Steve Parish, who all felt Pedrosa, at 5 feet 2 inches (1.58m) in height and only 47k (104ibs) in weight :corn: would not be able to physically muscle the big bikes around the tracks :hmm:
Well, history shows that the three times GP world champion won his first MOTOGP race on his fourth race in Shanghai, having finished 2nd in his first ever MOTOGP race in Turkey
Oh, I almost forgot …..when he clinched the 250cc world title missing out on a podium in Australia in 2004, Pedrosa became the youngest ever to win the 250cc title at 19 years and 8 days (beating the record held in 2002 by Marco Melandri). Pedrosa also holds the record as the youngest ever to win world titles in two different classes of GP.
What do you guy's and gals think?
