Yoshimura Ignition Advance unit Anyone tried one of these units some reviews say " Seen no gain " other reviews say " first part of tuning after air flow and exhaust flow is fit one of these ignition advancing units "

Hi B , an advancer yoshi or joe bloggs all do the same job . A Tuned rex dyna pipe etc will see no advantage having one of these fitted. What I noticed with my rex from day one is whilst cruising and then cracking the throttle their was a micro second of delay but enough to notice it . Advancer cured this . I got mine 2 years ago from Ted on the zrxoa £27 delivered .

Ted's Advancer No hp gain, but did clean up the off idle response - eliminated that slight hesitation and revs come up very smoothly.

Ted's Advancer No hp gain, but did clean up the off idle response - Nice one going to attempt the carbs then try one of these on just to smooth things out a bit, theres plenty of hp there being its the fully power version, not ready to increase that yet tjheres plenty for me at the moment

Agreed. Did I say anything different on either of the other 2 UK Boards? Don't think so.

Agreed. Did I say anything different on either of the other 2 UK Boards? Don't think so. Dont know picked up one of these quotes from the gsxr1100 high performance tuning site I,ll have a look on some other boards and the zrxoc to see whats in there

on the 1200 teds advancer works every well for that offf idle responce, lasgt year at the usa national rally i dynoed out the 1200 with and without teds advancer, it made 2.3 to 2.8 hp more over the entire rpm range did 5 pulls in less than an hour and had charts to show the difference, no torque readings as it was an long line to get in and several members gave up their spot in line so all could se the results. however on higher tunes engines more compression and cams it holds the rex back, so does the stock cdi box, the trick is to get the zzr cams, cdi and timing advancer from the zzr more throttle responce and with the valve train you get 11,5 redline

I've been told categorically that the ignition advancer makes precicely no difference performance wise although it does smooth things out. I have an advancer on my own stock 1200 (only other mod is the can) and there is a defnate and noticeablle difference once fitted. I can't really say whether fuel economy has been affected in any way as I've never monitored it that closely I've always argued against there being no, power gains. Ass dyno says different. Surely with the ignition advanced, with the sole purpose of the more efficient combustion of Europen and US fuels as opposed to the inferior Japanese stuff which the bike is factory set for, there has to be a gain somewhere or else why bother? As far as I know, nobody has made any dyno comparisons and your results would seem about right. A 2.3 to 2.8 hp increase would be barely noticeable on the road in normal conditions but would make the bike feel fractionally more responsive. Well done that man.

One of the first mods was Ted's advancer. No dyno before and after so can't add any data to that discussion. If there was any more power, it was negligible enough to not register on the "seat dyno". As stated, did clean up the off idle response quite nicely though.
