May I wish everyone a happy St.George's day, my giant flag is waving from the front of FLOOG mansion with much pride. It was declared a national day of celebration centuries ago, and yet we still do not get a bank holiday in honour of the Patron Saint of England..... ? Legend shows George to have been a Tribune in the Roman army, who was beheaded by order of Emperor Diocletian on April 23rd for protesting at the persecution of the Christians. George became a symbol of bravery in defense of the poor and the Christian faith. Throughout history, the legend grew, and the white flag with the red cross was adopted and taken into battle by the English army. Around 900, George was recognized as a saint. Sadly now, most people fail to even remember the special date, nor celebrate the day, as we become lost in political correctness......FLOOG always wears a red rose on this day, and waves his flag with pride. Let's have some English pride here.......ST GEORGE OUR PATRON SAINT...... ALSO................................. I was proud to serve in the Metropolitan Police force for Her Majesty the Queen, and I wish her a truly wonderful 80th Birthday.... WHY wasn't Friday a National Bank Holiday??........God bless you m'am....... And finally..................... Today is WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S birthday Born on April 23rd 1564 and died strangely on...... April 23rd 1616

:agreed: Why oh Why, have the over PC , do-gooding self important buorgrats of this country, sat back and let this week past by and do nothing. St.Georges Day
The Queens 80th
Shakespeare's Birthday
The London MarathonNo. not much happening there, certainly nothing for the British public to celebrate. NO we cannot be seen to PUSH being British, it might upset the other minority, any other minority that might take offense of the fact that they LIVE in Great Briton. And that we are proud of being British, proud to sing "Rule Britannia" ect ect And befor you might think i am racist, no iam not, my partner is,nt British, does'nt have a UK passport. But I am very anti PC and all the do-gooding Buorgrates that are. and i am also pretty miffed thts it's raining and i cant get out on me rex on a Sunday.

I am sure I read somewhere where some local authorities banned the flying of the Cross of St George as it might offend some minority groups. We can however display other flags for other saints days and hvae huge parties as well. This is PC at its worse IMHO. We should be proud of our country, no matter where people are from originally. Thats one reason I think why people are moving towards the BNP, but thats not for this discussion. Far to political I served 15 years in the Army and we always had a day off for the Queens Birthday, official or otherwise, unless deployed of course.

You are absolutely right there Wardourdrive ......a truck driver I worked with several years back, hung a ST.GEORGE'S flag from his front window and received a visit from a Southwark Council representative He was told to remove the flag on the grounds that it was 'Offensive to the ethnic population in Southwark'. Failure to comply would result in court action Peter was Southwark born and bred, a plain speaking man and he told the councilor to kindly go forth and procreate with great haste!! :blx: Nothing ever came of the council threats. This is a subject close to my heart. My grandfather and father both served in the army, I served the queen in the filth and we lost one of our family in the battle for the Falkland islands. It's not racism to fly your nations flag and show pride in your sovereign.....it's called patriotism..... Try telling the Americans and Canadians not to fly thier flags in thier own gardens in case they upset anyone..... me think's you'd need to run fast..... Time to lie down....I'm worn out with all that thinking......

Its no wonder so many people leave this country for others. Everything is far to easy across here. I have relations (wifes side) that do nothing but scrounge all day ling and earn a fortune in benefits. I tend to work around 14-17 hours most days, admittidly not manual labour but still work and have little time for the family let alone the REX. But of course if there is a football match or the liek we can show the flag as much as we like from car windows. Flogg I would do the same as your friend did and tell the kind council man to ***************** off

I too am sick and tired of all this "policical correctness" malarkey. I grew up in an era when to be gay was to be joyously happy, Robertsons jam had a nice little logo and a collection of badges and soft toys to go with their marketing. I now find myself in a situation where I'm having to relearn my native tongue and adopt new words just in case I happen to offend Johnny Foreigner or someone who happens to be worse off than myself or has a different sexual orientation. Just what are you supposed to call coloured people these days? There was once a time when "wog" was an acronym for Western Oriental Gentleman. Try using that term these days What of the disabled and all of the other "special" groups? I was bought up to treat all my fellow beings and my surroundings with respect and taught my children the same values. For the most part, any members of so called "minority groups" that I have had dealings with don't give a toss what you call them or how they are referred to provided that they are treated with respect. Is it because of the disrespectful minority within our own British citizenship that this bullshit has been implemented? Sadly, I think it is and the do-gooders have gleefully jumped on the bandwagon. It's all getting a little confusing If anybody is getting offended by it all, it's me and people like me. I find it offensive that in normal conversation I could slip up and accidentally insult or offend someone simply because somebody re-wrote the Oxford English Dictionary while I wasn't looking. If and when that happens, I suddenly find myself classed as an ignoramus or worse. :explode: Political correctness? It gets my two fingered vote.

:agreed: to all of the above In my book political correctness (surely political and correct don't belong in the same sentence) is just a load of old bollocks peddled by a nanny state and well meaning but sadly disillusioned interfering busy body liberals with not enough real world issues to deal with, and as for minorities, well don't get me started......... Put simply I believe everyone has a right to be treated as they treat others, good old fashioned common decency and all that goes with it... maybe it's me who's out of touch with reality As I see it if we're going to talk about minority groups then count me in as a one, a working, bike owning, home owning, generally law abiding, tax paying, pension contributing slave to the system Ahhhhhh thats better, time to get off the soap box.....

I think it is me. I think I am a minority, I ride a sensible bike don't break any speed limits ever Am a perfect weight in every way and love all car drivers. aaahhhh what a nightmare I have just had. All the do gooders should do a stint in teh military or police, fre service or become a nurse and see how well patriotic people are treated, like the scum the government think we are. Get this I am 40 years young, I qualify for a 15 year army pension but here is the killer. I have to apply for it when I am 55 or I don't actually get it

No, what these do-gooders really need is to vacate their ivory towers and do a couple of years stint living in a council house on an estate in a poorer area. They also need to adjust their viewpoint a little considerably and see life in glorious technicolour, instead of black and white.
It's not possible to clearly defiine right from wrong simply by using fancy words and giving people fancy titles which some of us don't care for or even be bothered to remember. From what I've seen, lack of "political correctness" or respect for your fellow man to put it more bluntly, is a basic lack of education issue. Quite simply. ignorance.
Why then is everybody being targeted, all of us expected to be "PC", when quite clearly the majority of folks, do in fact live and let live, doing unto others as they would expect themselves? It's the easy option, far simpler than tackling the root of the original problem. :explode:
It is this that I resent most and quite honestly it's causing more problems because I will insist in rebelling against it. I live by the rules of common decency and respect. I don't do PC and if that causes offence to anybody then.... :mfinger:
Rambling now, I'm going for a lie down.
