I think most are the same. You could try tiscali (my daad likes them) or Nildram ( i have them for work) or Orange Or Sky if you already have sky. I still use NTL/Virgin. I ahve the £35 10mb package and told them I can get the same for alot cheaper so I now pay £17.50 for 10mb

Daddy FLOOG has just switched over to TALK TALK and pay's £19.99 per month for 8mb broadband and completely free phone calls to standard UK lines AT ALL TIMES. It's a fantastic deal as they take over the BT phone line and you get everything in one bill. He's very happy with the broadband I am on TISCALI at present paying £14.99 per month for broadband and it's been faultless. I'm looking at upgrading to free phone calls which is £19.99 but it looks like that doesn't include line rental, so I might follow my dad's lead and switch to Talk talk. *****Talk Talk certainly had problems initially, but these were due to massive uptake of thier service which they could not handle. Dad and his neighbours rate them very highly now

I've been with Virgin for years and have found them faultless.
Currently on an 8Mb connection which is costing £24.99 monthly.
Now connecting via a wireless router instead of a modem so connection speeds are an awful lot faster anyway. 54Mb
Having read Floogs post I may well be looking int Talk Talk as an option. All of my phone calls from my landline go to landline phones to keep costs down. Use the mobile for mobile calls.

:hmm: Now that's got me thinking. I've just checked my account on the new Virgin Media website instead of the old Virgin.net and it confirms that I am currently paying £24.99 monthly. I can "Upgrade" online to "Unlimited Broadband & Talk" and be £5 per month better off. (19.99) Cynical me is asking "What's the catch?" as I can't seem to find any more info on the website.

I've been with Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange since it started and have never had a problem. Currently use a wireless router for 5 PCs in this house and 1 next door. The router handles it all perfectly I've just "upgraded" from £24.99 per month, 2Mb to £19.99 and 8Mb and as a bonus I get 01 and 02 calls free plus 100 international destinations as well. No catch! Their broadband talk box only supports 6 wireless connections (I think) so I am currently experimenting with a DLink Repeater to try and expand this. Never get any problems with line dropout etc Present connection has been continuous fro 379 hours BT Total is a good package. i've set up a couple of those recently. The setup is a bit long-winded but very thorough. Up to 8Mb and free evening and weekend calls. Virgin setup is nowhere near as comprehensive but seems to work well. tiscali is fine as well. Hope that helps rather than confuses you even more

KWACKERS darling you have inspired the FLOOG'S into action. Pat has just signed us up to TALK TALK3 INTERNATIONAL PLAN. We get 8mb Broadband totally free (we were paying £14.99 for 2mb from Tiscali).....and free UK and worldwide calls at any time. Crucially for us this includes CANADA where our clan dwell in dark caverns, and Canadian mobile lines With BT direct debit and Tiscali we were previously paying £29 per month and additionally for phone calls. Now we will pay just £20.99 per month with calls inclusive, 4 times better broadband and we can chat to the family anytime We are quite happy

The Gremlins too. I'm now a fiver a month better off AND all of my national landline calls are at the right price. (free) From talking to other NTL customers that I know, it would seem that they have been given the shitty end of the stick . A friend of mine at work on NTL cable is now paying more for the same service, apparently subsidising Virgin customers........or so it would seem. He's none too pleased.

BT Here now. no problems whatsoever.
Had NTL in the last house and they were quite simply the worst utility company I have ever dealt with. Don't use them.
Sound good in the ads but once you are a customer they really don't give a toss and once you have signed up remember you are bound to accept their piss poor performance for 12 months.
In case I didn't say it clear enough before.......DON'T USE NTL

Weird, Im with NTL, have been for years and dont have a problem with them, the trick is to watch for the deals, phone customer services every so often and threaten to take your buisness elsewhere. In a poll in the Independant Newspaper a few weeks ago they actually came second in value for money, service, provision etc etc, . Waiting to see what happens now that Virgin has bought them out.

The change to Talk Talk is all progressing. The phone changes to them on March 5th and the rest of the package soon after I'll be off line for a while so that'll give everyone a nice break LIGHTSPEED, if it looks like I'll be offline just before we depart for Canada, I'll PM you and we can hopefully make some arrangements for meeting

First bill from Virgin Media and I am still betting my discount So 10Mb for £17.50. Hardly use the phone so not a bad month. Will see if they renew my discount at the end of March. Unfortunately for me I can only get 2Mb max from BT

Our switch to TalkTalk is going ahead. The phone get's switched on March 5th and we'll have free calls including to Canada and 24 other countries Good old Tiscali are messing me about by not giving me a MAC number They did exactly the same to my dad. There's a new law which means providers must give you a MAC number within 5 working days or face very hefty fines. So I've sent some steaming letters and threatened reporting them to OFFCOM I have a feeling my broadband will not be up and running very quickly simply because of gamesmanship
