Grem, All day today I've found myself with a MS IE error message and then getting IE shut down (after offering to send that bit of information to MS - for all the good that appears to do). This Isn't happening on any other sites at all.
Anything changed since yesterday??

The only thing that's changed since yesterday is the host for the code that works the imageshack uploader in the posting area. Can't see why that'd throw up an error in IE though. I'll have a play with my version of IE and see what happens.

Using IE to post this reply and no problems encountered so far. What actual error message are you getting. If you can possibly give me a code number or something, I may be able to search the internet for clues to its cause.

A blue edged message box comes up indicating that: Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
When I click for more info on the problem report I get:
Error Signature AppName:iexplore.exe AppVer:6.0.2800.1106 ModVer:6.0.2800.1559 Offset:0003d0d3 ModNam:wininet.dll
Futher information seems to be a major registry dump in HEX
Got shut down three times while trying to post this, the last one just as I was about to hit Post

Having a quick search on the internet it kinda sounds like you have a problem with wininet.dll being either corrupt or virus infected. If you search on the net you may be able to download another copy of this and replace it. Either that or a complete repair of IE may be in order. This site seems to have some pretty comprehensive info on how to do this. Have you considered using another browser? Having an alternative does mean that if you encounter problems with one, at least you don't get effectively locked out of the internet. Mozilla Firefox, Avant, (the one I use) and Flashpeak slim Browser are 3 that spring to mind and I have used all of these to good effect.

Got it sorted out today Grem. Apparently MS issued an emergency security patch to Internet Explorer last week which patched the security bit but blew up other parts of IE. They then issued a patch to the patch, which didn't solve the problem. The third patch (which I now have installed) appears to have fixed the problem, but I understand that MS is coming out with a whole new patch next week that is supposed to address the security issue and the patches to it. Go figure its MicroSoft!
