Hiya found you searching Google, the name is Emma I own an 04 ZX636 I've been looking around for a a second bike (winter & instructor) I'm not keen on Bandits, Hornets or anything like that BUT I have fallen in love with the ZRX the older the better as I don't have much spare cash, I'm wondering if you think it would be a good bike to cope with winter & all it throws at it?. Would be any good for a riding instructor, loads of miles on my bum in winter & summer........sometimes crawling along at 20MPH if the student is doing a scary CBT? What kind of money are they fetching? Is it easy to get spares? sorry for all the questions

I use one of the schools GS500 for instruction, you never know when the students going to do something stupid and run into you. I think when I did use my S for instruction it started to get very hot going round town. But it was summer Like Kev says the ZRX is a very capable machine be it an R or and S. Winter is never fun on any bike and the Rex is no exception, needs TLC when all the salt and rubbish is on the roads, but always worth the effort If you get one you will love it. Most do

Thanks for the replies I have been using what ever the school has free but sometimes we are so busy that I only just manage to get one.... it's good getting to know all the bikes we have, but I would like one that is just mine. I'm pretty sure I will enjoy riding it looks a barrel of laughs ...... I was kinda hoping someone would tell me to forget it (my boss is worried about me getting caught speeding)

:bye: Hi Emma and a huge To be honest, i think you could find the REX a a very useful and great bike. Ya, i ride mine all year round and give it plenty of TLC in the winter, treat it well and the REX with pay you back twice over in "Smile for Mile" ;D One of our LADIES on here "Kwackers" sort of... how can i put it....negletes her REX, (by her own admission) but the bike still serves her well. ....and on a lighter note, how dare you conceder using a :zrx: as a winter hack

:hello: and welcome Emma, you will seriously love a zrx, go for it! I am coming up for 60,000 miles on mine and tend to mostly just do general maintenance on it, no major problems in 5 years riding it. Yeah its rotting a bit due to lack of washing but after a day at work, 60 mile round trip the last thing I want to do is clean it. But when I do it comes up a treat ;D Low speed is no problem, keeping it low when you arent working is!! Im surprised Ive still got my licence :mut: Good luck and you will get loads of help and advice on here plus laughs

Agreed with what Kwackers says, the ZRX will cope with whatever you want it to do.
Sadly it's resistance to corrosion especially on detail parts is non existant so expect to spend lots of tlc if you want to keep it looking good.
