Hi all, Just got myself a 1997 import 1100, its not immaculate, but looks the part. I sorted my insurance today, and set off on my first ride out. About 8 miles down the road it started raining (or so i thought) well, it wasn't rain, turns out i have a fluid leak from around the top of the radiator area on the left hand side of the bike...bugger. Do these old beasts suffer from any well known faults of this type ? i know naff all about these bikes, just got chance to own this particular one, loved the look of it, so dived in with both feet Apart from this, i love the bike, big, comfy, and an ace motor... Also have a Triumph Bonneville So, can anyone point me in the right direction with the leak ?

I've not heard of any radiator problems, but I guess if there is than the good members here will advise. I'm sure its minor and from my last 12months usage i'd say pretty reliable, and welcome to here.

A few ZRX's have had radiator problems. In most cases they can be repaired by a competent radiator shop. If not, I think many have opted for an aftermarket radiator as the stock ones from Kawasaki are pretty expensive. Some also remove the diamond shaped rubber button in the middle of the radiator screen, concerned that it could vibrate against the radiator core and wear a hole in it.
Vibration seems to be one of the primary culprits for rad failure. Are the rad mounts on each side solidly connected to the frame? Is there any sign of stress or vibration on the connection with the radiator tank itself?
