Steve McQueen not only drove the Mustang GT in Bullett, but was a pretty capable rider as well. Did most of his own riding stunts in the movies. This was a $1M Honda advertisement from years ago. Steve seems to capture some of the "fun" of riding. Steve M and his Elsinore

Yep agreed there, in the bike chase scene of the film "The Great Escape" he did all the riding and stunts himself except for the jump over the fence which he wasn't allowed to do due to the insurance, for that part of the film he was dressed as a German soldier and riding one of the chase bikes. King of Cool in my opinion

Steve likely got a bit of that but I expect most of the cost was helicopter time and other bits for the filming. Just seemed to have captured some of the feelings that come from riding in a nostalgic, low key way.

:hmm: Jeff, when I cut and pasted the URL into my browser, that most revealing and interesting "historical" photo came up. Why it won't come up in the forum? Well, managed to get a link working Steve on his REX
