Hi All, I don't have a manual so i am having problems removing the carbs on my 11 ! Is there a tip that nayone can give me or have i got to wait till i get a service manual? Tank is off,i have undone the air box mounts, and undone the carb clamps, but there is no room to get the carbs out even after taking the coils out. Please help!!

Welcome to :zrxuk: Rmove: - the tank the airbox side covers The water heater pipes (plug them straight away to prevent loss of coolant) The vacuum hoses Choke cable Undo the k-Tric wiring at the plug, leaving the bits on no4 carb Undo the throttle clamp on the bars to release the cables Undo all the bolts holding the air cleaner box and move it rearward as far as possible Undo the manifold clamps and peel back the rubbers off the inlet stubs. Just a question now of getting the carbs off the airbox housing and wriggling the whole assembly out to the right hand side. REmove throttle cables. Just make a note of which one is push and which is pull. Saves grief later. Don't ask Sounds easy It isn't Getting it back is a similar pain, but you might find that a long metal ruler placed over the manifold stubs will help to guide the rubbers into the right place without them fouling the stubs on the way in. Use plenty of WD40

Can't add to Burchy except that I always take photos before I take owt off. Getting the cable routing correct is beyond my memory (age or drink, probably both)

Thanks for the tips. I did get them off,but only by pushing the rubber air box seals back into the air box housing, which means i can also get the carbs back in place, but i now can't get the seals back out of the air-box! Any tips for this Cock up

take the carbs back off, get the rubbers back to their correct positions, then turn them back on themselves (like rolling your top lip up to expose your teeth they will roll back but keeping them there may be a problem i have a flat piece of metal with a hole either end and i place this over the rolled back rubbers and then tie this back in place using the rear foot pegs as a tie point you can then put the carbs back in, undo ties push metal plate down and slide out
lots of sweat but fairly easy to do like this
hope this helps, hope you understand what I've written

Many thanks for the idea.I will look at doing that next time.I got them back out by taking the carbs back off,and with lots of messing about have got them back on. Trouble is i had taken them off in the first place to unblock the jets from the bike standing for over 3 years, but found no blockage at all. It is very hard to start and i did think it would just be a case of draining the fuel, cleaning the carbs, including the tube holes and cleaning the spark plug up,but it will not start still! More ideas would be very helpful

Are you getting a spark?
Does it spin over nic and quickly?
A little bit of info will go a long way in helping!!

Almost certainly the pilot jets blocked. You will have to pull them out to clean them properly.

About the second time you remove the carbs and fight with that airbox, you'll likely come to the same conclusion as many of us have . . . Bin the stupid box and install pods!

Well fuel is getting to the cylinders as the plugs are wet,i have a spark while the plugs are out testing. It spins over fast for a few seconds then a bit slower then on.The holes in the pilot jets are clear i have taken them all out and used a single wire brush strand to push in every hole. sparks did seem a bit weak! Cheers all for the help.

These beasts often won't start unless the battery is up to snuff.
If the battery is a bit low, everything will seem fine, but they just won't start. Check the battery.
