I've noticed that almost every time I change a page, there is a delay while it counts down, loading all the smilies. That's not too much of an issue here where the speed is high, but it is painfully slow at home on dialup.
I don't recall that happening on other sites, so they must have a way for the smilies to be downloaded and stay resident in memory until you log off.
Is that a setting, or just the nature of the platform we're using?

It must be the nature of the platform we're using. To my knowledge it's always done that. Maybe it's something to do with all the extra ones I've added and the coding that runs that. The standard Proboards system only came with a handful, the top line in the posting area up to I've often noticed the rest of them all being loaded up from our Photobucket account depending on which browser I'm using at the time. I know that some don't get used often enough to justify their existence so maybe a cull would be in order??
