Since the dyno run this has been on my mind as and when to do it.
With all this crap weather this week, and probably next, I figured whilst the bikes indoors I'll do it....especially as we have no project bikes to work on either....noy yet anyway
It's a right fuss removing the carbs on this bike, especially dismantling the throttle cables and choke cable, so I thought I would try and determine the size of my current main jet by sliding the carbs across to the right exposing no.3/4 without having to take these off.
All I had to do was bung up the little coolant pipe that runs across the front of the carbs when i removed it, as the pipe didn't have enough length for the carbs to move to the right.
The guy at the dyno said that I probably have size 85 main jets and that I should increase these in size by a couple to try and remove the dip in performance at the top end. In fact I have four size 86 main jets. I took the float bowls off the bottom (4 screws) which exposed the main jet. Even my young eyes struggled to read the engraving on the main jet, hence why I also took a photo
So, I have ordered 4 size 90 m/j from ebay - £10. From Kawasaki they're £30. Result! Should turn up soon, so it will be a quick re-assembly, and then possibly another trip to this dyno place in Oxford, as he now knows the bike, and seeing what, if any improvement this has made.
Hopefully this will enable me to run with my Kerker Racing can on again, as it desperately needed jetting, and wouldn't rev with it on.
