Some thieving little gits broke into my back garden over the weekend and took of all thing a bloody Honda superdream that had been stood there for two years or so. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that whoever nicked it can get it running. 'Cos I never could, not without it pissing petrol all over the place anyway.

I take it your Rex was stashed out of the way somewhere safe then? Which is a blessing of sorts. Theft is still theft, a crime against the individual wheter it's of something precious like a Re or something not so precious like a Superdream or even a washing line full of undies. (Don't ask who that happened to and I won't have to tell you). You once paid good money for that supedream for reasons which were probably best known to you at the time so why should some other scumbag reap any kind of reward or benefit from you? More to the point, if the b@st@rds keep getting away with it , they'll keep on doing it and probably be cheekier with it next time. I've been a victim of theft myself, apart from the undies, and it really ain't all that funny, leaving you feeling cheated and insecure. It'll be the baseball bat first and ask questions later next time. :explode:

Lucky they didn't get into the garage, yes, even tho' rex aint in that garage anymore.
I ask myself, what ferkin use is nicking a bike that doesn't even work?
It was my bike tho' , why should they just think they can have it? Bastarrds. Hope the police find them riding it, at least i know they fixed it for me.

Having had two cars stolen from outside two different locations, and a KLE 500 (proper 1991 full power model) that was only saved by an alarm system that did enough to put them off (they had already cut through the chains, ripped off the expensive cover and damaged the wheels ), for me it's the shock when you find the empty space where once had stood your vehicle. That shock (in my case), grew quickly to anger :explode: because, as rightly stated previously, it was YOUR vehicle.....someone has entered your private space and helped themselves. For every item we all possess there are several people who would commit foul deeds to relieve us of them....that's sad but true. Sad old git maybe, but I remember as a kid how our whole neighborhood got along, left doors open, had kids playing in the streets as they were safer, and not one thing was ever stolen.....until the eighties......then the cars started vanishing and the doors started locking and new neighbors didn't talk to each other so much. Police blame the drug culture where a Mercedes is £30 worth of drugs, a car CD player is A fiver, and the damage left behind for the victim goes far beyond the initial act and overall cost of repair/replacement......... When you think, they now have kids or vans of spotters searching for bikes to steal, they take them in daylight in view of the public with alarms blazing, we are told not to wash our machines in view for longer than necessary in case some tea-leaf sees them.....and I have had to install a five mortice lock, ground anchor, system 3 alarm and a variety of smaller chains and locks to even start to feel safer............

Although we're talking four wheels, the last time I had a vehicle stolen proved to be a very fortunate, though none the less surreal experience. It was stolen from outside my place on a Wednesday night, so I notified a disinterested Plod On Friday Plod phoned to inform me my car had been found in someones lock up garage near some flats in Charlton If I wanted to recover the vehicle it was down to me though I should phone Plod if any trouble occurred My mate and I went to the location armed with a baseball bat and crow bar in case the thieving scum made an appearance. Sure enough, my car sat in this garage, neatly parked and fully valeted inside and polished outside?? Inside, there was a new and expensive book of UK maps and a full tank of petrol (it was on vapors when they stole it). There were also lots of new music tapes. It was missing one thing, a coil lead. I made the (probably foolish ) decision to wait with the car whilst my mate went and bought a new lead from Halfords and off we drove. I increased security and put locks on the driveway gates and that was that. They were obviously planning a nice trip, rather than getting scrap or spares value. I was lucky to say the least

That reminds me of a story. A few years ago a mate had his rather grubby Escort RS 2000 nicked. It was found about 2 months later with a full leather interior, top class re-spray and new tyres on a set of very expensive alloys. He was well chuffed, it was probably worth about three times what it was before it was nicked.
Sadly, I don't think this kind of thing happens very often!

I was lucky to say the least You were not just lucky someone was smiling upon you, normally the only sort of people that go to the trouble of cleaning a car inside and out and filling it with petrol and the sort with shotguns, masks and bags marked swag. Removing the coil lead was there way of making sure it was not nicked again before they were gonna use it.
