Found the thread HERE from kevrex about soap Burchy Im still a wee bit confused though If i read it right you dont need to sand with 1200 and soap unless you have orange peel effect od imperfections the paint on my belly pan seems fine so im going to laquer it tuesday Hope it turns out ok now with all this reading up

Found the thread HERE from kevrex about soap Burchy Im still a wee bit confused though If i read it right you dont need to sand with 1200 and soap unless you have orange peel effect od imperfections the paint on my belly pan seems fine so im going to laquer it tuesday Hope it turns out ok now with all this reading up Yes and No sparky if you get orange peel effect then you have got to 1200 and soap but even if all looks ok you COULD still 1200 and soap,you don't have to its just because there may be little bits of dust in the lacquer and this eliminates the dust particles and you get a smooth finish BUT if it looks OK to you and you are happy with the result when you have lacquered then leave it The only thing you 1200 and soap is the lacquer NOT the paint Hope this helps

Cheers Kevrex ...close one that cos i was going to go ahead and try your method out with the soap on the paint but cos i got up late i never had time to Yes the paint looks fine with no ripples or orange peel So my paint is ok and ready for a couple of coats of lauqer , will have a go wed . Your more than welcome sparky
U usually the get orange peel affect when you apply the lacquer,it is caused by the shrinking of the lacquer,just go steady and apply light coats and build it up one layer at a time to get your finished product.
The best way is to use a old hair dryer if you can get one and warm the lacquer after each coat you put on,this stops any runs and also help the next layer to go on better

I get up with good intentions but in no time its getting dark and wont be MR popular if i start spraying the bike in the living room then its time for work again

Looks FAB now with some nicely placed decals ive got it will look the dogs . Spent most of the day sanding down the rear cowling " note to self " Must remember next time not to put too much filler on Sanding with wet and dry is taking me ages had to stop as me hands were turning blue with this cold wind blowing up under the shed door Getting there though
