Done!
Fitted new front mini indicators - they work fine.
Bigger job though was stripping the carbs and giving them a good clean out.
After removing all the bits of air box plastics and breathers etc, removing the actual carbs proves extremely difficult as there in not enough room to properly slide the carbs out. But after lots of budging they came out.
The 400 had been starting quite easily ( bit rich) and also only ticked over on 3 cylinders so the aim was to correct that.
The air filter was really blocked up, gave it a good shake but I think a new one will be needed quite soon, after xmas anyway.
As for the carbs, compared to the ZZR6 ones we have just done, they were really quite clean. Only a little bit of muck inside, but a good squirt of carb cleaner all through soon cleared that out. Adjusted the pilot air adjuster screw on all of them to make it slightly less rich.
Then gave the carbs an external clean and a polish, they responded well.
Dad and I fitted it all back together this afternoon, decided to balance the carbs whilst the tank was off. So we re-connected the fuel pipes, put it on prime, waited a min then pushed they starter. Within 5 seconds she was running. Couldn't believe it, started straight away basically, and settled down, on all four to a lovely tickover.
Balanced the carbs and now she is just running brilliantly, down to about 500 revs no problem on idle, purring away, then a quick snap on the throttle, no hesitation and fighting, she just revs away easily. Surprised me how much more responsive it was
Everything else got a good clean though whilst it was all exposed, topped up the engine coolant, just need to purchase a new air filter, that should be it.
