I think that was a foldable bungee strap, :agreed: when you take a good look like that you see that its has most sensible mods already included, prehaps someone looked at the pictures of our bikes and went gold renthals check wavy discs check SS exhaust (shiney) check 4 pots on the front check :hmm: so what we will leave them to do is stick on a hugger, belly pan, shiney torsion bar and the jobs a good un. and of course even if it aint officially imported we can still go the grey route. excellent find michael

I was speaking to Chris at Cradley Kawasaki over the weekend and he hasn't actually written off the chances of this one being imported to the UK yet.
He also raised one valid point which I heartily agree with.
We need a new "S" model in the range too. From a dealers point of view there were never enough of these available and they're still much sought after in the secondhand market even now.
The more angular lines of the DEAG lend themselves really well to a new 'S' fairing more reminiscent of the GPz900 item that I asked for in the first place. I never did like the bulbous, rounded look of the original S fairing even though it does serve a valuable purpose for the more serious long distance rider.

I'll finish the sentence off for ya and that I bought one "s" too Interesting thought gremlin Kawasaki the only big Jap frim that do not currently sell a UK muscle/retro bike at the moment, Im thinking Honda have the CB13, Suzuki GSX14 and Yammy the XJR. Bit of a hole in Kawasaki range

OK, I'll admit it. I never did like the 'S' model. That ugly fairing spoils the look of a great bike but for practical purposes the 'R' simply can't beat it. It's kinda grown on me over the years but I still don't love it. And I agree. Kawasaki is missing a big marketing opportunity by not having a retro/muscle bike in its range to oust the competition with. Updating the Rex sooner with its fuel injection etc to comply with the new EU regs might have been prudent instead of loosing its foothold on the market like it has done. Maybe Kwak think that after 10 years (yes it has been that long) that the Rex has run its course. BIG MISTAKE!!

Right get ya gloves on Grem :argue: I like the front of the S. It looks a hell of a lot better than the Suzuki Bandit 1200, that really does look like it's been stuck on. There is only Honda that do a S in the muscle range. But ya, i cant see any reason why Mr Kawasaki wont bring out a S version and import it over here. The sooner the better (for their sales, more than us muscle bike fans).

Appeared to briefly show a "half faired" model, but it was simply the darth vader quarter fairing extended rearward and mounted as a 1/2 fairing. Says something about mounting FI to obtain full power (which is actually down from the carb version )
