Amazing, the Tom Tom Rider 2 system turned up this morning at 0820am exactly as promised before 9am I've spent the day being a big kid and reading the manuals, prodding the buttons and having a laugh with it It's a robust little fellow, and basically is new (June 2007), replacing the previous rider system (this is a rider 2). Comes with a home charger, charger for the bluetooth mic and receiver, universal mount to attach to any bike's handlebars, carry case and a load of other bits I've fitted the bike cable which obviously feds off your battery and means it doesn't run out of battery power midway through your journey. I've also added on the traffic camera warning programme, which is one of the reasons I bought this in the first place, with cameras lurking everywhere I ride these days. It warns you of a camera, tells you exactly how many yards away, and tells you what speed you should be riding at Out with Badger tomorrow, so I will give it a test ****The unit clips off the mount on the handlebars when you get off. Also the mounting bits come off as well, leaving only one clamp in place which doesn't ruin the lines

Nice bit of kit. I have the Garmin 2610 which is fitted in a similar position to your tom tom.
I think the ball joint and cables confused a couple of people at Abindon, especially as I didn't have the Garmin fitted.
Whatever sat nav you use its a good edition

Obviously the mirrors are bent inwards as Rhonda's in t'garage. But when on the bike, I find I set the nearside one a little differently, and the blindspot mirror needs to be a tad higher Even on this tiny Island, I am capable of getting lost between one road and the next Two recent trips to North London showed exactly how crap the RAC and AA route finder servics are on the net....... They both ommitted important details The sped cams thingy has been bothering me for a while now. On a bike, you tend to be blatting along and suddenly the buggers appear......so I wanted at least a chance against them Oh and Jeff, believe it or not, you can travel a lot of miles without seeing water over here

I've been putting the sat nav to the test over the last week, using it on Rhonda, and also in my car Over all, it's absolutely brilliant, and the speed camera programme was worth every penny It does sem to make some amusing errors though On one journey, though technically correct, it wanted us to go across a gated level crossing that looked like it probably opened once every full moon We ignored it and hooked up with another road, and then realised that the gated route would have been a cut through It also has a problem with some roundabouts, and although it corrects itself quickly, sometimes you do have to use your noddle Yesterday going up to Ashford, I took the scenic route, and it saved my bacon coming home as the M25 was bad , so I detoured to the M2. It got me to my destination fine, but got confused and led me to an abandoned car park one road away from the actual address Been fun though trying to fool it, and making it recalibrate. I've also learned some good local routes to Erith Hospital that are much better than the normal way I go. The sped by GPS function is amazing, it shows just how far out car and bike spedo's really are. Up to 30moh, all are pretty well spot on, but the faster you go, the more out of touch the dials become with your true sped. In the car, at 76mph I am actually only doing 68mph, and today on the bike, an indicated 85mph was merely 77mph Now I understand why pub bragging about seeing 150 on the clocks is always in conflict with magazine tests using GPS dataloggers Overall, really chuffed with it, and now even I have no excuse to get lost on any journey's

I particularly like the mounting position you have chosen as it seems to obscure the speedo and revcounter or is the display for these incorporated in the sat nav display?
I have considered installing a digital dash myself but it is still on the 'still to do list'

The GPS can give ya a true speed, but nothing for engine RPMs
