Can any of you techno-bods help ? Tried to sort mis-fire on my H2 by replacing the coils and leads but to no avail. Have any of you got any suggestions as my limited knowledge is rapidly running out So far i have put on replacement coils, new HT leads (no WD40 ) and new plug caps. Had each plug out to check spark and all ok, but i noticed that there was no difference in the running of the engine with no. 3 plug out, could it be one carb and if so what am i looking for ??

It could possibly be just the one carb at fault.
Things to check would be blocked jets and airways, sticking needle jet, split vacum diaphragm.

I'm sure glad it's something as simple as that. Had the carbs been in 100% working order then the next place to start looking would be with a compression test. You'd have then been looking for either blown head gasket, valve not seating properly, cylinder, piston and ring wear, or worse, broken piston rings. So, a 50p diaphragm is the least of your worries then.

Still easier than getting the head off and a lot cheaper than finding that your piston rings have collapsed and you now need a complete rebore.

Diaphragm fitted wiyhout tooo much agro, It seems ok at above 4000 rpm but a bit lumpy on tick over and there's a sort of squeaky clicky noise when i rev it, I burned my finger on no.4 header trying to feel no. 3, i'd had enough at this point and decided to put the under tray and hugger on the zx7.
I think I'll take jams advice and do a compression test, as i'm out on the rex tomorrow it'll have to wait till Monday.

Compression test today, not quite the 139 psi as per the manual but all four were within 10 psi of each other, so no sticking valve . I did notice that plug 1 was black and 2,3&4 were all a greyish brown ... so no.1 carb is running rich it seems.. could this explain the lumpy tick-over

Yes.
Number one cylinder is receiveing a different mixture to the other 3 so will either be producing more or less power accordingly.
Each time the crankshaft rotates it'll either briefly accellerate of stall which will cause uneven running.

I may have identified your problem. I thot that H2s were triples! You've got one too many cylinders there. Four cylinders and four headers! Maybe the Brits got 4 cylinder H2s when the rest of the world had to make due with triples?
