Reuben McMurter campaigning on his Kawasaki - likely from the late 70's or early 80's. He did later win a Canadian Superbike Championship however, on a H*nda VFR750.
He did go on to compete at the World Superbike level, achieving two podium finishes in 1989 and one in 1991.
Steve Dick
I'm off looking for some of Steve as well. He first started racing in Edmonton at the old Speedway track in 1976. I have some hard copy photos I took of him as a blond mop headed kid from those days. At one here in Edmonton I remember that he sat at the start line putting on his gloves while the rest of the field belted down the opening 1/4 mile straight. As they entered the hairpin at the end of the first straight he flipped his face shield down and started his Kawasaki.
Before the 8 lap event was over, he was in first place, and in fact had lapped some of the back markers.
He had a pretty 'hot' young girlfriend at the time and I think she just "happened to be" in some of those photos.
He also progressed quickly and became a two time Canadian National CMA/RACE Superbike Champion on Kawasaki's in 1981 and 1982 (this was at a time when there were competing series wars occurring in Canada). He also finished 3d overall in the inaugural Daytona 750 superbike race as a privateer.
If I can't find some photos on the web (and they seem to be nonexistent so far), I'll have to dig them up out of my carefully archived boxes of miscellaneous photos and scan them.
Lang Hindle
Found some photos of Lang's 1982 Canadian Superbike Championship* bike - a KZ1000 with Eddie Lawson S-1 engine (dual spark plugs, Lectron carbs, etc). Lang now designs and manufactures some pretty sweet Hindle exhaust systems here in Canada. I have a Hindle Endurance Racing pipe on my GPz.
* not to be confused with Steve Dick's 1982 CMA Superbike Championship
