I'm always open to suggestions. quiet at the back. This board probably has too many forums (fora??) in some areas and not enough in others. What do you think? What would you like to see here?

Funnily enough I've been thinking along those lines myself. I haven't got the first idea about where to look and how to set one up but I'm sure gonna find out.

Scroll down to the bottom of any of the pages in the members areas and you should find a link to our new chatroom. It's not fully integrated with this site and each time you use it you'll need to login with your username. Let me know what you think of it for a first attempt.

Chat room? Which sadarse suggested that? Not bad, however came across a problem almost immediately. When I logged in, I did a test post, then logged out. I logged back in, and it wouldnt let me, telling me that my username was already used by someone. I suspect that theres a time delay on it, but with so many people in and out of chat at busy times it may become tiresome. <billy no mates> wish I had a friend to chat to to test it properly</bnm>

The chatroom does work. I was in there the other night with somebody. It reminds me of the old sleazybored chat if anybody can remember that far back. The main differences being that you can actually get in there, don't get logged out every five minutes and there's only ever going to be the one Gremlin in there instead of the 17 that I managed to acheive on one occasion. Problems? Yes, it's not ideal. It's not integrated with the site in any way so there's no means of telling if it's being used or not. A way round this would be to log into chat and PM your friends to let them know. Some of us used to do tht anyway so no real diffference. The other way would be to pre-arrange set times?

UPDATE
I've just realised, my post #5 above was from all the way back in February. A lot has happened since then. We have a new chatroom to the one previously advertised and it is properly integrated with the board.

Grem, on this new supa dupa board, is there any way of getting back the old "next" button to move on to the next page of a thread? At the bottom, left, on the page. For some reason I have great difficulty with the present set up. I hover over the area and extra pages show, but as soon as I move the mouse to get to it, it all disappears

I'm afraid you got me there. That mouseover thingy was installed by proboards themselves when they upgraded from V4 to the current V5. It only occasionally ever worked for me unless I got good at target practice and hovered my mouse over the exact right pixel then moved it in the exact right direction afterwards. I gave up with it in the end and went back to the original way, which still exists, and involves you letting go of your mouse and typing a couple of numbers in a box instead of clicking with your mouse. I'll have a look and see what I can do but the code for it is part of proboards and I have no control over it.

Just noticed that this feature is actually working here where it never did before. Would never have spotted that without your help Burchy. Joking aside. Are you absolutely sure that your Java is up to date? Most of the features on the board are Java driven, including Live Chat which I already know you have bother with. Either that or the problem is browser related. Most of my tinkering around here is tested elsewhere using Firefox but I do always check the results in IE, Avant, and Opera before unleashing my ideas on an unwary public.
