Back in the late 80s early 90s i remember reading an article in a bike mag about a bloke in Australia (where else!) who chopped two cylinders of a rolls Royce Merlin V12 Spitfire engine . He mounted it in a motorcycle as a V-twin, mated it with as i remember a 2 speed gearbox (fast and he'd never managed to get it into second as i recall !). I remember the article well and there were pics as well. I've started looking for it on the web but can only find ref to it but no articles or pics. Does anyone remember this bike/article ? was it a spoof/April fool thing (was a teenager at the time) ? Any help greatly appreciated ! cheers Pip

Engine: The two end cylinders off a Rolls Royce Merlin 24litre V12 aero engine. Originally fitted to a Mosquito bomber. Making a special new crank for it took 300 hours. Gearbox: 3 speed Holden car gearbox and engine speed clutch. Air operated. Rear drive: Big Chain. Frame: One off construction using engine as stressed member. Wheels:Front: Suzuki GS1100G. Back: Big drag slick. Electrics: Unknown. Starting: DC3Aero starter operated by assistant. Carburetion: 2 x 1000cfm 4 Barrel Rochesters . Future Mods: A supercharger and Nitrous Oxide injection are planned. (Maybe already done?) Pip

Methinks you might want to keep your privates a ways away from the right hand side of that one. Get caught up in that exposed belt and they'd be 0.0001 inch thick and three miles long
